Final thoughts and design improvements-
Although a clever design, The SpikeBall did not live up to the expectation. The straws turned out to be very flimsy and susceptible to bending, not being able to absorb the impact of the fall. The same concept with firmer straws could work better.
The Red sponge ball comes in a close second with it surviving a very commendable 2 story drop. It championed through the initial drops and was a very uncomplicated and cheap build. This contraption can be improved by adding further materials to the surface of the sponged like foam and packing peanuts etc.
The paratrooper was the clear victor in this competition. It survived all the challenges thrown at it while being the most easy and cheap to build. The parachute worked flawlessly to increase the surface area leading to a greater drag force, which in turn resulted in a decreased resultant velocity.
